Rear-End Collision on Chincoteague Road Injures School Bus Driver
By Shapiro, Lewis & Appleton, School Bus Accident Attorneys in Virginia
A woman is facing a charge of following too closely after allegedly causing a rear-end collision with a Head Start program school bus on Chincoteague Road in Accomack County, Virginia (VA).
The accident occurred at the intersection with Fleming Road in the town of Wattsville at around 3:30 pm on May 15, 2012. Police said no children were on the bus when the wreck happened, but the force of the impact was enough to injure both the at-fault driver and the woman driving the bus. Both people were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
It is tempting to breathe a sigh of relief when learning that “only” adults were hurt in the crash between a car and a school bus. Giving into that temptation would be wrong.
As Virginia personal injury attorneys who have helped numerous victims of rear-end collisions, we know these types of accidents can leave people facing lifetimes of pain, medical treatments and disability. Tailgating, speeding, becoming distracted while driving and failing to heed traffic signals such as red lights and stop signs put everyone at risk.
